Southern Tier Wheelers ....... as remembered by a pioneer member

Southern Tier Wheelers has been a camping/dancing club for over 45 years. In the
early years it had 125 members with a wait list. The limit of members was due to the
availability of camping sites. There were members from New York, Pennsylvania and New
Jersey. The weekends were usually holiday weeks so people could have 3-4 days of
camping.

In 2000 when Camp Bell Campground was sold, the club moved to Campers
Haven in Bath. When Ed Marden bought Camp Bell Campground a few years later,
STW moved back to its “home” and have been camping there ever since.

The club has participated in many national Camp-A-Rees and orange and white were the club colors.
Over the past years, it was decided to not meet on the busy holiday weekends.
The schedules include dancing (of course) and many fun and interesting things to do such
as pot lucks, crafts, games, social hour, campfires and more.

Some of its past callers and cuers include Gary and Alice Bubel, Betsy and Roy Gotta,
Howard Williamson, Lisa Treichler, Brian Adams, Gary Prine, Jeff Bobst, Cubby
VanLoon and Lou Terwilliger and more.
